Home Comfort Gallery & Design Will Help You Fall in Love with Your Home
The first surprise you will get when you walk in the front door of the Home Comfort Gallery & Design, 105 W. Main St., Troy, is that it actually seems like you are in a home. It just “feels” so relaxing and comfortable here. The second surprise is that you are greeted by a staff member who is as friendly and warm as the big leather sofas in the store.
Easily, you can have a nice conversation about your home, about furniture, about decorating, accessories, floor options, window treatments, the kids, the dog, the price of gas; whatever. In fact, owners, Jim Kindrick and Diana Begley often find themselves talking to people about many of the aspects of life that make “home” a place to be loved.
Diana, who is well-known in this area for interior design, holds a Masters Degree in design from the University of Kentucky. While she has commercial design experience, she much prefers working with people to create the kind of home that will keep them happy when they walk through their front door. “I love working with people and talking to people. So, that is what has brought me into residential design, as opposed to commercial design.”
“We help you fall in love with your home,” she said. “I feel that with the stress of everyday life and work, and with raising children and taking them to so many activities, your home environment has to be “you” and comforting to you and your family. If you are not happy with your or it doesn’t feel right, then you are going to be under constant stress. At least when you come home, it should be a comforting environment for you, where you are going to look forward to spending more time. It is the one place you and your family can be rejuvenated and nourished.”
Diana said her “big focus” is to spend enough time with you to understand the personalities of the people involved and then turn your environment into a peaceful comfortable retreat.
Jim pointed out that what he and many of Home Comfort’s customers have come to trust about Diana’s talent is that she truly decorates a home based on the tastes and styles of the people who come to her for help. “It’s not Diana’s style that she is giving to you, it’s your style that she is able to figure out from you and then she makes that happen. There are a lot of designers out there, that go in with the idea of giving the room their own (the designer’s) personality, whereas it should take on the owner’s personality. That’s what Diana’s good at,” he said, commenting that she will keep you in your own style, but prevent the mistakes you might make if you were decorating on your own. Diana noted that sometimes we hold on to things that might be preventing our sense of relaxation simply because we are used to them.
On the other hand, Diana likes to keep certain elements in your home when she comes to help. Her philosophy is to intertwine those items- such as an antique chair that belonged to grandma, a special piece of artwork, a favorite pillow- into the new environment. She believes there are many pieces within a home that truly belong there because they bring a good memory or a positive feeling.
While Diana gives people peace of mind about their home decorating. Jim’s passion is providing you with the quality furniture you need to accomplish the look you want. As General Manager of the retail end of business, Jim sees it as his responsibility to check every piece of furniture that comes in.
His goal is to provide you with “medium to high-medium” brand name quality furniture at a good price so you are getting value for your money along with the service to back it up. “When you come here, you get real people, selling real furniture at a real value,” he stated. “That is the difference. There is no pressure here.”
A company should instill confidence in the consumer that the company is capable of what they say they are. “We don’t pull punches,” Jim said. “We tell you the truth as we know it today. I made a promise to myself that every piece of furniture will be looked at when it comes in here, and it will be right. Being small, we can do that.”
Another important feature they both have in come to recognize is how important “choices” are to people. You may love a particular dresser, but wish for different hardware on the drawers. At Home Comfort Gallery, there are many different choices for your selection, whether it is the color of fabric for a sofa, the color of stain on a piece of furniture or the style of hardware you like on a dresser.
Home Comfort Gallery & Design offers a large showroom full of furniture and accessories for your living room, dining room, kitchen, bedroom and den. They also have a selection of children’s furniture. They carry Flexsteel, Cochrane, Lane, Kincaid, Sealy, Spring Air Comfortflex and Howard Miller Clocks. They also offer a wide variety of lamps, area rugs, mirrors, art work and decorative accessories for your home.
“We want to bring to this area the latest goods and services that are available anywhere,” Diana related, noting that she and Jim regularly attend big shows and events in order to bring to the Miami/Shelby region those things that are available to the rest of the country.
You are invited to stop in and visit our professional staff, including Tresa Poeppleman and Bill Merritt. “You are only one person away from an owner,” said Jim. “Even if you don’t buy furniture from us, I want you to leave the store feeling like you had a wonderful time here and you talked to some really neat people.”
